Bramhall World Circle Dance Group

Bramhall Circle Dance Group has been running since 2008 although things were a little different during 2020 and 2021 due to covid. During the summer of 2020 and 2021 we danced outdoors, returning to the Bramley Centre in Sept 2021 to dance on Tuesday afternoons at the original time of 1.30 to 3pm. Since then we have been dancing in a socially distanced circle with limited numbers and dancing “unjoined” (ie not holding hands in any way).

This is now changing! From Tuesday 5th April we will once again be holding hands for most dances, and there will no longer be a limit on numbers which means that prebooking is no longer necessary. However, all dancers are still required to take a Lateral Flow Test before attending

NOTE – Easter Break on April 12 and 19. Restarting 26th April.

Regular dancers no longer need to book unless you wish to pay in advance by bank transfer. It is not necessary to book if you are paying cash on the day (£6).

Without limited numbers we will be better able to welcome beginners and visiting dancers from other groups. If you haven’t been to the group before it would however be helpful if you let me know you are coming, especially if you are a beginner interested in trying circle dancing for the first time.

Lockdown Dancing October 2020

What is Circle Dancing?

In our group you will dance a mixture of simple International Folk Dances and modern choreographies, using lovely music often from Greece and Eastern Europe, as well as Israel, South America and elsewhere in the world. We are affiliated to a worldwide network which has benefitted from online connection during 2020.

The Bramhall group is run and taught by Terri Owen, and sometimes also taught by Bridget Ovey. We are currently averaging around 17 dancers in a session (Spring 2022)

For Beginners

Beginners can start at any time as each dance is taught and there is always a mix of dances. Many will seem easy and relaxing, others may challenge you. Once you have been a few times and picked up some basic steps it will quickly become easier to follow dances which are new to you. There is no need to come every week but as with anything, the more often you do it, the easier it seems.

Remember, Call Terri first on 07713 681439 if you are new to the group.
